Meet Brett Berard who is Pursuing Cybersecurity and Network Engineering, 鈥�24
Brett earned his associate degree in Cybersecurity and Network Engineering in May of 鈥�23 and will graduate with his bachelor鈥檚 in 鈥�24.
Brett鈥檚 favorite NEIT memory so far was being awarded the James Langevin Cybersecurity Scholarship. He vividly remembers being pulled out of class to learn the good news. 鈥淚 was extremely excited. I even got the opportunity to speak with President Richard Gouse. It was a great memory and something that motivated me further to succeed and pursue my career and academic goals.鈥�
Esports Team Captain Role Creates Strong Bonds
Brett serves as Team Captain of NEIT鈥檚 championship-winning Overwatch Esports Team, one of his most rewarding, exciting experiences.
鈥淎s a commuter, I often found it hard to meet new people at school outside of class. The Esports team changed that, and now I have met a good group of friends and interact with students from other teams. I am grateful to play on the team. Also, I am an incredibly competitive person, and representing NEIT motivates me to win. The Overwatch team was a fantastic opportunity to meet new people with a common interest. It has been a wonderful experience.鈥�

Brett鈥檚 dream job is to become a Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst. With his NEIT education, he is on his way.

The Cybersecurity field will only continue to grow as the world becomes more and more connected. Having a degree from New England Tech will show employers and myself that I have the critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed to succeed.鈥�
